Palazzo delle Muse (Palace of the Muses) in Viareggio, Tuscany, takes its name from the many architects, painters, musicians, or simply art lovers who donated their sculptures, paintings, and graphic works to the museum. Thanks to their donations this historical building is now an important cultural centre for the town, as it houses the municipal library, the historical archive and the well-known Gallery of Modern and Contemporary Art (GAMC). The art gallery boasts thousands of 20th century works produced mostly by local artists or who had strong ties to these places, and who depicted many local landscapes in their creations. In detail, this building hosts the most important public collection of the works by Lorenzo Viani, a great Tuscan painter and writer who lived at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries and a leading exponent of European Expressionism.
During the renovation of the Tuscan museum, great attention was paid to the lighting system, which had to be more modern and efficient, and above all respectful of the great artistic treasures it contains. Disano and Fosnova (Disano Group) participated in the development of the lighting system by proposing a very innovative design and then implementing the installation with Focus LensVector spotlights. The special type of lens fitted into this luminaire makes the Disano product stand out, as the lens allows the users to change and choose the beam according to their needs, while ensuring full control of the light beam. Designers can therefore create light scenes and manage settings without the use of mechanical devices and without changing the optics. A truly remarkable achievement.
Moreover, the entire system can be managed remotely thanks to the Casambi technology, a functional and advanced wireless solution that helps minimise energy consumption and maintenance costs.
Disano has therefore proposed a lighting design perfectly in line with the needs of a museum. Lighting scenarios that highlight the artistic treasures, respect their true beauty, create a pleasant ambience, and can be controlled remotely.
