Pesaro received two important nominations in less than a decade: UNESCO Creative City of Music in 2016 and Italian Capital of Culture in 2024. As the capital of the Pesaro and Urbino province in the Marche region, Pesaro captivates with its rich history told through numerous buildings and monuments. It also offers stunning views of sandy beaches, the green hills of Monte San Bartolo and Ardizio, and the crystal-clear waters of the Adriatic Sea.

Pesaro, a city surrounded by diverse natural landscapes to explore, while remaining respectful and discreet thanks to one of the most extensive bicycle networks in Italy. It features dedicated routes linking the coastline, the city centre, and peripheral areas and a scenic nature walk along the River Foglia.

In addition to its stunning landscapes, Pesaro showcases a diverse architectural legacy, ranging from the Renaissance Palazzo Ducale, formerly the residence of the Sforza family and now serving as the prefecture, to the 17th-century Church of Sant’Ubaldo. Another highlight is the neoclassical Palazzo Montani Antaldi, an 18th-century building by local architect Tommaso Biccigaglia, currently housing the Rossini National Museum, dedicated to composer Giacomo Rossini, born in Pesaro in 1792.

The centre of Pesaro also hosts modern and functional buildings, such as the hospital San Salvatore, incorporated together with two other facilities into the Azienda Ospedaliera Ospedali Riuniti Marche Nord, established in 2009. In addition to an emergency room, the hospital has numerous wards such as haematology, paediatrics, cardiology, ophthalmology and for infectious and tropical diseases.

The hospital has recently upgraded the lighting systems in several departments, as well as in other areas throughout the facility. Designed with a focus on cutting-edge technology and environmental sustainability, Disano took charge of the lighting project, drawing on its extensive expertise in the lighting of hospitals. LED Panel, Hydro, Garda, and Sella were chosen to meet the diverse technical and aesthetic needs of the installation sites.

Disano‘s work on the lighting system made the Pesaro hospital even more special, because patients here are not only treated across multiple care settings, but attention is paid to their psychological well-being as well. Therefore, creating a pleasant and relaxing environment is essential, and lighting design plays a pivotal role in fulfilling this requirement.

The project featured LED Panel ceiling fixtures fitting technologically advanced and innovative LED sources. This resulted in a significant reduction in both energy and maintenance costs, ensuring a stable luminous flux. The project also ensured a stable light output, providing an almost flicker-free environment to help protect people’s visual well-being.

Garda and Sella luminaires, designed for outdoor street furniture and parking areas, feature the latest generation of LED sources, illuminating both transit and green spaces. This Disano-designed solution not only delivers significant energy savings but also provides excellent colour rendering, ensuring optimal viewing and visual comfort.

The outcome achieved at the Pesaro hospital is truly remarkable. The diverse range of Disano luminaires effectively illuminates each area, ensuring optimal visibility, protecting people’s eyes and the environment, while saving costs and energy.
