Selb is a town in Upper Franconia, Bavaria, Germany, known worldwide for the manufacturing of fine porcelain and ceramics. This activity, which began in the second half of the 19th century, is linked to the construction of the surrounding buildings, including the Porzellanikon museum, which tells the story and evolution of high-quality porcelain making, the fountain decorated with 45,000 tiles built in Martin Luther Square in 2003, and the Rosenthal-Theater, an innovative creative space and cultural venue.
The town is rich in history, culture and art, displaying the modern, dynamic and sporty character of its residents. The best proof of this is the Netzsch Arena, the home rink of the VER Selb ice hockey club and the youth divisions of the local ice hockey, curling, roller skating and figure skating clubs. Built at the end of 1976 in only eight months, the facility has a capacity of nearly 4,000 spectators and over 700 seats. It houses the club’s administrative office, the merchandise shop where fans can buy jerseys and other gadgets of their team, and, starting from the 2015/2016 season, the facility also has a VIP lounge for media representatives attending the games.
The ice rink track recently underwent several renovations. Among other things, the track’s lighting system was upgraded to enhance performance and provide innovative technology.
For this demanding request, Disano, an Italian leader in the outdoor and indoor lighting of sporting events was called to supply its Forum LED floodlights, a benchmark product in the sport lighting industry.
Thanks to the perfect combination of technology and design, these lighting fixtures ensure precise illumination of the ice rink, while facilitating high-definition television broadcasting.
Forum is equipped with advanced LED sources, which translates into a considerable reduction in energy and maintenance costs together with an excellent quality of light, guaranteeing maximum visual comfort for athletes and fans. These floodlights are designed and manufactured according to the most innovative lighting technology, which is only possible thanks to the constant research carried out in Disano‘s labs. All this makes these fixtures stand out for their excellent colour rendering index, stable, glare-free light emission, without any harmful flickering.
In the Netzsch Arena illuminated by Disano, athletes and fans can now enjoy every competition under lights that create a pleasant and, above all, visually safe environment.
