The Kioene Arena in Padua, Northen Italy, is primarily recognised for hosting SuperLega matches, Italy’s premier men’s volleyball championship. Despite being the venue for many other sports disciplines like boxing, tennis, fencing, handball, and basketball, the Kioene Arena, also known as PalaSport San Lazzaro, goes beyond its role as a sports hall. It frequently hosts concerts featuring internationally renowned artists and bands, as well as presentations, conferences, and other corporate events.
Following substantial modernisation in 2010, the Kioene Arena has emerged as a prominent landmark in the sports and entertainment sector for the northeastern regions of Italy. Noteworthy attributes such as a seating capacity of nearly 4,000, convenient proximity to the motorway network, and ample parking facilities enhance its overall importance. It attracts an average of approximately 200,000 spectators annually.
Recent renovations have been concluded throughout the entire facility. Among the main tasks was the installation of new lighting, a project executed by Disano, an Italian company specialising in sports lighting solutions. In detail, the choice fell upon Forum LED, the most popular floodlight used in all types of sports venues, thanks to its functionality, robustness and reliability.
This luminaire stands out for its top-quality lighting performance, with a safe, stable (low flicker) and glare-free (ripple free) luminous flux, that is the result of the extensive research carried out in the company’s laboratories. Therefore, the light output is perfect and capable of providing athletes and spectators with maximum visual well-being and comfort.
Like all Disano luminaires, Forum fits only the latest generation of LED sources, which are characterised by excellent colour rendering (CRI90), a colour temperature of 5700K and low energy costs. Such technical qualities, unaltered during its very long service life, facilitate today’s high-definition television requirements.
Moreover, the new lighting system is equipped with a digital management system based on the DMX (Digital MultipleX) protocol, which is currently the most widely employed method for lighting control during sports competitions and music events. Through a central console, the system enables the configuration of different scenarios and lighting effects tailored to the show to illuminate, adding an extra touch of magic to the event.
The Kioene Arena’s lighting installation succeeded in achieving an ideal balance of aesthetics, stability, protection, and cost-effectiveness, exclusively powered by Disano‘s luminaires.
