With approximately 2,600 staff members, including doctors, nurses, technicians, researchers and administrators, and 1,300,000 patients every year, the Istituto Auxologico Italiano (Italian Auxological Institute) has been providing specialised care and treatment services since 1958, supported by a constantly evolving and active biomedical research programmes. In 1972, the Italian Ministry of Health granted the non-profit Istituto Auxologico Italiano the title of Italian Scientific Institute for Research, Hospitalization and Healthcare or Istituto di Ricovero e Cura a Carattere Scientifico (IRCCS). It counts 20 hospitals in Italy (Lombardy, Piedmont and Lazio) and in Romania, operating both privately and under agreement with the National Health Service.
More recently, the Biomedical Research and Technology Centre was opened in Cusano Milanino, a municipality in the northern part of Milan. This area contains many laboratories, facilitating the debate between researchers and optimising resources to ensure adequate and innovative cures and treatments.
In particular, in addition to a conference hall, a library and multimedia teaching and lecture rooms, the Cusano Milanino Centre provides researchers with the most cutting-edge technological tools in the field of molecular diagnostics and genetic research.
Given the presence of very delicate machinery and the significant activity that takes place there, the Auxological Institute opted for a lighting system designed to be sustainable, efficient, visually safe and, of course, energy-saving. The installation was carried out by Disano, who selected special, high-performance products such as Comfortsquare and LED Panel.
Both lighting fixtures represent the best of indoor LED lighting. They are characterised by high-quality light output, which means correct light distribution, proper heat dissipation and optimal colour rendering. Above all, it means obtaining a stable and precise luminous flux, minimising the harmful flickering effect.
High-performance LEDs, on the other hand, ensure long system life and lower energy and maintenance costs. All these benefits are guaranteed, and maintained for a very long period, also thanks to the use of carefully selected materials which are tested in the company&#8217;s labs.
From an aesthetic point of view, Disano takes great care in designing luminaires with sober lines and discreet shapes to facilitate a harmonious integration with the place where it will be installed.
The Biomedical Research and Technology Centre at the Auxological Institute can now count on adequate, highly efficient and visually safe lighting thanks to the exceptional light sources of Disano luminaires.
