Rezzato is a charming village in the province of Brescia, which is known mostly for its marble and stone working due to its proximity to the Botticino quarries. Nestled within an enchanting natural landscape and not far from Lake Garda, it also surprises visitors with a wealth of historical and artistic landmarks. Among these is Villa Avogadro Fenaroli, originally built in the 16th century and later modified through numerous interventions and additions between the 18th and 19th centuries. Important historical figures, including Giuseppe Garibaldi and Napoleon Bonaparte, are known to have stayed within its rooms. Another highlight is the parish church of St John the Baptist, consecrated in 1724. Overlooking a spacious square, it features a stone bell tower in Romanesque style. The interior, divided into three naves, houses several works of significant artistic value, including an altarpiece by Pietro Marone, a key figure in local Mannerist painting, canvases by Sante Cattaneo depicting St Anne, and a richly decorated high altar made of polychrome marble in 1735 by the sculptor Vincenzo Baroncini.
In the sporting arena, Rezzato is also known for its athletics track, home to the Gruppo Sportivo Rezzato (Rezzato Sports Group), which has been active since 1975. Athletes of all ages, united by their passion for the discipline, train under the expert guidance of qualified coaches, often with a view to participating in competitive matches. Given the facility’s importance for the local community, a series of renovation and modernisation works were recently completed, ensuring it is fully equipped to host large-scale events. The track has also been renamed in honour of Gianbernardo Foresti, who served as a city councillor for ten years and was athlete and manager of the Rezzato Sports Group from 1976 until his sudden passing in 2005.
As part of the renovation, the lighting system was upgraded with cutting-edge LED technology. The contract was awarded to Disano, an Italian lighting company that excels in the field of sports lighting. In fact, it is recognised for supplying the lighting systems in all types of indoor and outdoor facilities worldwide.
Building on this experience, at the design stage Disano chose to install high-tech Forum LED floodlights, equipped with both symmetrical and asymmetrical optics, various beam angles, and a range of different wattages. The light output is stable and glare-free, ensuring visual safety for both athletes and spectators.
