Modern shopping centres are no longer just for shopping; they’re lively spaces where visitors can relax, enjoy a coffee, dine at food courts, or enjoy a few hours of being pampered in a beauty salon or hairdresser.
The Carosello, located in Carugate near Milan, is one of Lombardy’s largest shopping centres. With 4,000 free parking spaces, both above and underground, as well as 50 electric vehicle charging stations, it hosts a wide range of world-renowned brands, from stylish clothing for all ages to cosmetics, personal care, household, books, jewellery, electronics, and more. The centre also offers various services, including dry cleaning, shoemaking, barbering, and hairdressing. The Giocarosello, a play area spanning over 350 square metres, welcomes young visitors while adults enjoy their shopping. This colourful, engaging space features a 5-metre slide for ultimate fun and is available for rent for birthday parties.
A shopping centre as diverse and dynamic as this needed to be properly illuminated. The solution was to install a completely innovative lighting system. Drawing on its extensive experience in commercial lighting, Disano oversaw the lighting project, supplying a range of products tailored to each area.
In detail, Vista and Giovi luminaires were chosen for the outdoor spaces, particularly the parking areas, while Hydro watertight fixtures were installed in the underground parking space. In both cases, the goal was to ensure maximum visitor safety, achievable only with high-quality lighting. Cylindrically shaped Micro Liset systems were also used.
For the interiors, Luthor adjustable recessed spotlights were selected. Their modern LED technology offers a range of technical and aesthetic benefits, making them ideal for indoor lighting, including exceptional colour rendering that preserves the true colours of products, outstanding luminous efficiency, and significant energy savings – essential for retail environments that require lighting throughout the day and often into the evening.
The variety of fixtures Disano installed at the Carosello shopping centre fully meets the demands of an efficient, modern system, where the lighting is stable, safe, and enhances the shape and colours of the merchandise, while prioritising visual comfort and keeping energy costs under control.
