From a renowned ski resort in winter to an ideal spot for outdoor exercise enthusiasts when temperatures get milder. This, and much more, is Alleghe, in the province of Belluno, a small mountain town in the Veneto region framed by the majestic natural beauty of the Dolomites, with the stunning Civetta mountain group as its backdrop.
Sport has long been part of Alleghe&#8217;s identity. During the winter, the frozen lake was used for field hockey until, in 1952, a proper rink was built. In 1975, the Alvise de Toni ice rink was established in the heart of the resort, named in memory of a local technician who died in Mozambique.
The rink, which holds about 2,500 spectators, is home to Alleghe Hockey Club&#8217;s games and figure skating events.
The structure recently underwent several modernisation works, including the installation of a new lighting system to make it compliant with the rules imposed by the Italian Ice Sports Federation. The lighting project involved the installation of lighting fixtures made in Italy by Disano, a Milan-based expert in the manufacturing of lights dedicated to every type of sports facility, from small to large venues, to professional and world-class facilities.
The Belluno ice rink is now illuminated with the Radio LED floodlights, a true concentrate of the most advanced LED technology to ensure all its advantages, such as excellent colour rendering, low flicker light emission, low energy, and, last but not least, accurate horizontal and vertical illumination to facilitate modern HD television service. Moreover, the use of precise, specially designed optics prevents glare for both athletes and spectators.
These floodlights are also equipped with DALI power supplies, allowing greater control of light levels based on the event.
Aesthetically, as with all products from the Italian lighting manufacturer, the design blends functionality with creativity, achieving a seamless harmony between the light fixture and its setting.
Thanks to Disano&#8217;s floodlights, the lighting system at the Alvise de Toni ice rink has met every requirement: the rink is now lit with precise, safe, efficient, and cost-effective light, the kind only the latest LED technology can deliver.
