The Al-Bayt Stadium is a hymn to Qatar&#8217;s traditions and culture, but with an eye to the future. Its name, as well as the structure itself, is a clear reference to the historical tents of the Bedouin populations who used to live as nomads in this area or in the Persian Gulf region.
Classical tradition is interwoven with contemporary design, as seen in the arrangement of the spaces, with green areas for physical activity alternating with cycle lanes, running tracks and areas for horse and camel rides.
During construction, the venue obtained important energy efficiency and eco-sustainable building certifications.
This allowed the Al-Bayt Stadium to be suited to host a world-famous sporting event. In fact, this is where the inaugural match of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 and eight matches of the tournament, including a semi-final match, were held.
Once the sporting event is over, some of its spaces will be converted to different uses and new areas will be created. For example, the sky box area will become a five-star hotel with a shopping centre, the 60,000-seat capacity ensured during the World Cup will be reduced, and an exclusive sports medicine clinic will be opened.
For such a challenging project, the contribution of Disano, a leading sports lighting company, was essential. For the exteriors as well as for the car parks and passage areas, the client opted for energy-efficient and environmentally friendly lighting system made with the best available technology, also aimed to reinforce the futuristic appearance of the Qatari stadium. Hence, a lighting installation made entirely with Forum LED, Disano’s floodlights that take the quality and efficiency of LED lighting for both sports facilities and large areas to the highest level.
The Forum fixtures, tested in Disano&#8216;s laboratories, are equipped with low-flicker and ripple-free LED sources, with a stable output current without the slightest oscillations. The light output is therefore constant and glare-free, protecting people&#8217;s visual comfort and safety.
For the Al-Bayt Stadium, Disano developed an impeccable lighting installation, which perfectly illuminates the exteriors and all transit and crowded spaces, ensuring the safety and visual wellbeing of users.
