The Ahmad bin Ali Stadium is located in Al Rayyan, the most densely populated city in Qatar after the capital Doha. The stadium hosts mainly football matches and is home to the Al-Rayyan Sports Club, a major Doha football club founded in 1967 and playing in the Qatar Stars League.
The current stadium stands in the place of a previous stadium of the same name built in 2003, with a capacity of around 21,000 seats, and that was demolished in 2015.
The new Ahmad bin Ali Stadium was inaugurated in December 2020, built largely by reusing materials from the previous structure, including the trees surrounding the old stadium that were saved and replanted.
The seating capacity was almost doubled to 40,000 seats.
Green areas, eateries as well as cricket and tennis courts, an aquatic centre and even an athletics track were also added.
The Ahmad bin Ali Stadium was one of eight stadiums where some of the matches of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar and a match of the round of 16 were played.
In other outdoor areas, such as car parks and transit areas, the choice fell upon Sella, which are ideal to light up the area where they are installed, while significantly reducing energy costs.
For the indoors and in the locker rooms, several products were used, such as LED Panel, Disanlens, Echo, Rigo, Elfo, and Energy, all resulting from the most advanced lighting research.
