The island of Tenerife is the largest of the Canaries, one of Spain’s seventeen autonomous communities. The most important city is Santa Cruz, the capital of the province and the main port on the Atlantic Ocean.
A long strip of beaches with velvety golden sand, such as Playa Teresitas, alternating with green patches of palm groves, shows that there’s no shortage of greenery in Santa Cruz. In actual fact, its territory is dotted with gardens and parks, including the Sosa Rosa and the Garcia Sanabria Park, which covers 67,000 square metres and includes fruit trees, exotic plants, large trees and hedges, embellished with fountains and pop art statues.
The city is also known to be rich in historical, artistic and cultural sites. Inaugurated in 2003, the imposing Tenerife Adán Martín auditorium, designed by the famed architect Santiago Calatrava, rises from the city skyline, a structure that dialogues equally with the Spanish capital and the nearby ocean. Next to it is the castle of San Juan Bautista, dating back to 1644 and featuring a circular tower 30 metres in diameter. The Museum of Fine Arts is housed inside a classicist palace dating back to 1929, consisting of 14 rooms containing a rich collection of Flemish works, such as the Triptych of Nava and Grimon by the artist Pieter Coecke van Aelst.
Tenerife is a bustling and lively city also thanks to the presence of numerous sports centres. Among them, the Santa Cruz-Ofra complex, in the district of Ofra-Costa Sur, stands out as the most important. It represents a true reference point for the entire island as a major venue for physical and recreational activities.
The sports hall offers a wide range of disciplines, such as swimming, tennis and padel for athletes of all ages and experience to be practised indoors and outdoors; a wide range of classes for all levels, from beginner to advanced, completes the package of services for its members.
To illuminate the facility, designers thought of a lighting system capable of ensuring perfect viewing and visual safety for all users. Hence, they opted for an all-LED lighting system in line with the most advanced industry technologies.
The perfect solution was provided by Disano‘s Rodio LED floodlights, which are ideal when it comes to illuminating gyms and, in general, sports facilities of all sizes, complexities and purposes.
The LED sources in these luminaires are the right alternative to traditional light bulbs for many reasons: the light output is uniform, stable (low flicker), highly efficient and economical due to the drastically reduced maintenance and energy costs they ensure.
What makes Rodio LED even more complete is that it is equipped with a DALI system, which allows the best possible control of the light and, consequently, the highest possible energy savings.
At the Santa Cruz-Ofra sports complex, the exceptionally high-quality lights of the Disano floodlights illuminate training sessions and sports matches in complete safety.
