With more than 450 outlets worldwide, IKEA has established itself as one of the leading companies in the selling of furniture, household goods and other furnishings. Its history began in 1943 when its creator, Ingvar Kamprad, founded a company that sold, by mail order only, everyday objects such as pens, watches and matches. Starting in the 1950s, the product range expanded to include furniture. In 1958, IKEA opened its first store in Älmhult, southern Sweden. In 1963, it lands in Norway and, two years later, in Stockholm, achieving great sales success in all stores. In 1968, it decided to start its production of chipboard furniture instead of wood. Meanwhile, the catalogue grew to include designer items at a reasonably affordable price.
Since then, the company steadily opened new sales outlets in many countries &#8211; from Japan and the United States to Europe, Australia, the United Arab Emirates, Canada and Hong Kong. In-house designers style the furniture and furnishings, while the extensive catalogue is its main source of publicity.
Recently, the Swedish company opened a brand-new store in Tétouan, a town in south Morocco, intended for all the family to enjoy, including play areas for children.
The Italian company Disano was called to carry out the lighting design. The guiding principle was to deliver greater illumination of the store without increasing energy consumption, but trying to limit it as much as possible. It was a truly ambitious goal, and it was successfully achieved by the solution provided by Disano.
After careful evaluation, several indoor and outdoor products were proposed, such as Stelvio, Portofino, Visconti 2.0, Cilindro and Compact, each featuring some of the most advanced technological gear available in the lighting of commercial and industrial spaces.
In particular, Compact and Portofino were installed in the warehouse. These luminaires stand out for their reliability, excellent performance and cost-effectiveness, thanks to the LED sources that provide high-quality light output, long service life and excellent colour rendering. But that&#8217;s not all. The light output is stable, not compromised by any harmful flickering (low flicker), protecting the visual well-being of customers and workers.
Outdoors, the choice fell upon Visconti 2.0 and Stelvio. These luminaires provide excellent brightness to the entire building, guaranteeing great energy savings. From an aesthetic point of view, the special design of these luminaires is, as always, the result of Disano&#8216;s careful manufacturing expertise. The clean outlines and minimalist shape make them perfectly suitable for any installation space.
With such a lighting design, Disano has contributed to making the new IKEA store not only an adequately lit store but also a pleasant and safe workplace, without neglecting energy savings.
